"If one man can destroy everything, why can't one girl change it?"

-Malala Yousafzai, female education activist

I proudly support three incredible, women-led nonprofits that are creating change in communities affected by conflict and displacement.

Each organization has a powerful mission, from rebuilding war-torn regions to empowering women and refugees through education, mental health, and opportunity. Learn more about the work they do—and the change you’re helping to fund.

Nadia’s Initiative

Nadia’s Initiative is dedicated to rebuilding communities in crisis and advocating globally for survivors of sexual violence. The Initiative’s current work is focused on the sustainable re-development of the Yazidi homeland in Sinjar, Iraq, where Nadia grew up.

When ISIS launched its genocidal campaign, they not only killed and kidnapped Yazidis, but also destroyed the Yazidi homeland to ensure the community could never return.

Nadia’s Initiative partners with local communities and local and international organizations to design, support, and implement projects that promote the restoration of education, healthcare, livelihoods, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), culture, and women’s empowerment in the region.

All Nadia’s Initiative programs are community-driven, survivor-centric, and designed to promote long-term peacebuilding. The Initiative advocates for governments and international organizations to support efforts to rebuild Sinjar, seek justice for Yazidis, improve security in the region, and support survivors of sexual violence worldwide.

Women for Women International

Women for Women International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women survivors of war and conflict through comprehensive, community-based programs. Founded on the belief that strong women build strong nations, the organization works in some of the world’s most fragile and conflict-affected regions to help women rebuild their lives and become community leaders. Their mission is to provide women with the tools and resources to regain agency over their lives, break the cycle of poverty, and create lasting change for themselves and their families.

The organization offers a 12-month social and economic empowerment program that provides women with practical skills training, rights education, health knowledge, and financial literacy. Women are also given the opportunity to connect with support networks and are often introduced to income-generating activities that help them establish long-term stability. By focusing on holistic development, Women for Women International not only equips women with knowledge and tools but also cultivates their confidence and resilience in the face of adversity.

Women for Women International has reached over 500,000 women in countries such as Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Iraq. Their approach is deeply rooted in partnership with local communities, ensuring that the change they support is sustainable and led by the women they serve. In doing so, the organization continues to create ripple effects of empowerment, transforming individuals, families, and entire communities from the ground up.

MADRE

MADRE is a women-led human rights organization that partners with grassroots groups in communities facing war, disaster, and injustice. Its mission is to advance social justice by meeting urgent needs while building long-term solutions. MADRE works directly with women and girls on the frontlines—those often overlooked by traditional aid systems—providing critical resources like food, shelter, healthcare, and legal support while also amplifying their voices and leadership in peacebuilding and policy change.

What makes MADRE unique is its intersectional, community-centered approach. Rather than impose top-down solutions, MADRE collaborates closely with local women’s organizations in regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Together, they co-create programs that address immediate crises—such as gender-based violence, climate injustice, and political repression—while laying the groundwork for long-term empowerment and systemic change. Their model demonstrates that sustainable progress happens when those most impacted are given the tools and trust to lead.
